Teaching SEL is not a solution for all of the challenges our students face. But there’s a lot we can do as educators to make a significant positive impact. To teach SEL, teachers need to be aware of and continue to develop their own social-emotional skills as educators. As teachers, we may not be able to directly help with the many challenges our students face outside of school. But we can use our own social-emotional skills to make our classes a safe place where students know we value them, their families, and the experiences they bring to school. Proposed activities in Poland should affect students’;
• minds to be open to different points of view, values diversity, to be appreciative of foreign people and cultures;
• approach towards others, both friends and strangers, initiating and maintaining social connections despite their background, race, religion, disablities;
• courage to confidently voice opinions, needs, and feelings, and exert social influence;
• understanding and caring for others and their well-being that leads to valuing and investing in close relationships;
• approach to live in harmony with others and valuing interconnections among all people
